If You Have A Better Solution, Let's Hear It

by Helen Graebner

The ostrich is a foolish bird,
Or, that he is, I've often heard.
When danger is approaching,
Or a problem is at hand
He takes one look at what's to come
And -- Sticks his head into the sand!

No way to get ahead in life
Where each must face his share of strife.
Where toil and trouble dot the way
And only courage wins the day.

But when I turn my radio on
And hear the talks both pro and con:
High wages means stabilization;
Higher pay will bring inflation.
Or read the headlines black and bold --
The atom bomb will knock us cold.
I'm sure the ostrich has the answer --
Move over, leave for me some sand, sir!
